Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Kontami collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when customers and independent service professionals use our website and services in the United States.
1. Who we are
Kontami (“Kontami,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an online marketplace that connects customers seeking home services with independent service professionals. Kontami does not itself perform home services. This policy applies to the Kontami website at getkontami.com, Kontami accounts, and related marketplace features.
2. Information we collect
Account information. Name, email address, telephone number, profile photo, account role, company name, and login identifiers.
Google sign-in information. If you sign in with Google, we receive basic account information authorized by you, such as your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile image. We do not receive your Google password.
Customer project information. Service requested, description, ZIP code, timing, budget, project photographs, offers, selections, reviews, messages, and related records. A precise street address is intended to be shared only with a professional selected by the customer when needed to perform the work.
Professional information. Service categories, work radius, biography, experience, languages, license or insurance information supplied by the professional, work photographs, offers, reviews, and communications.
Technical information. IP address, browser and device information, approximate location derived from IP address, log data, session identifiers, notification subscriptions, and information needed to prevent fraud and maintain security.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to create and secure accounts; match projects with professionals; display profiles and project information; enable offers, messaging, reviews, uploads, and notifications; provide customer support; prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; improve and troubleshoot Kontami; comply with law; and enforce our Terms of Use.
Information received through Google sign-in is used only to authenticate you, create or link your Kontami account, display your name or profile image within Kontami, maintain your session, and provide or improve user-facing Kontami features. We do not use Google user data for targeted advertising, credit decisions, or training general-purpose artificial intelligence models.
4. Google user data
When you choose “Continue with Google,” Kontami requests only basic identity information made available with your permission: your Google account identifier, email address, name, and profile image. Kontami does not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, contacts, passwords, or other Google account content.
We use this data to authenticate you, prevent duplicate or fraudulent accounts, populate your Kontami profile, and provide account-related features. We do not sell Google user data. We do not transfer it to advertising platforms or data brokers. We share it only with infrastructure and service providers that process data on our behalf as needed to operate and secure Kontami, when you direct us to share it, or when required by law.
Kontami’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
5. When we disclose information
We may disclose information to other users as needed for the marketplace to function. Public profiles may show a professional’s name, company, service area, services, work photos, experience, and reviews. Project listings may show the service, description, photographs, timing, budget, and approximate area or ZIP code. Contact information and a precise address should be disclosed only when appropriate for a selected project.
We may also disclose information to service providers that support authentication, hosting, data storage, email and push notifications, security, and customer support; to professional advisers; in connection with a corporate transaction; or when required to comply with law or protect rights and safety. Current providers may include Google, Supabase, Resend, OpenAI Sites, and their infrastructure providers.
Kontami does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Cookies and session storage
Kontami uses cookies or similar browser storage to keep users signed in, remember preferences, protect accounts, and operate essential features. We do not currently use this information for cross-site behavioral advertising. Browser “Do Not Track” signals are not a uniform legal standard; where legally required, we will honor supported opt-out preference signals.
7. Data retention and deletion
We retain account and Google sign-in data while your Kontami account is active and afterward only as reasonably necessary to maintain project and transaction records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by data type. When information is no longer required, we delete or de-identify it where reasonably practicable.
You may revoke Kontami’s Google access from your Google Account permissions at any time. You may also request deletion of your Kontami account and associated personal information by emailing getkontami@gmail.com from the email address connected to your account with the subject “Kontami data deletion request.” We may retain limited records where required by law, for security, or to resolve disputes.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls, encrypted connections, and trusted infrastructure providers. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your choices and rights
You may update certain profile information through your account and may request access, correction, a copy, or deletion of personal information by contacting us. You may disable browser notifications through your device settings and unsubscribe from nonessential email where an unsubscribe option is provided. Service-related messages may still be sent while your account remains active.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, including rights to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information and to opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
10. California notice
California residents may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, the sources and purposes of collection, the categories of recipients, correction of inaccurate information, and deletion, subject to legal exceptions. Kontami does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If Kontami becomes subject to additional California Consumer Privacy Act requirements, this notice will be updated with required metrics and request methods.
11. Age requirement
Kontami is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that such information was collected, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Kontami develops or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required by law.
13. Contact us
Questions, privacy requests, and account or data deletion requests may be sent to getkontami@gmail.com. Please include “Kontami privacy request” in the subject line and contact us from the email address associated with your Kontami account so we can verify the request.
